GCS Zeller Plays key role in Unilever's New “Lux” Launch in China

(Paris, France - 01/03/2006) Unilever has launched a new look pack for one of its leading brand shampoo and conditioner products, Lux, with a new closure from Zeller.  Lux is a popular brand in China, and Unilever wanted to add greater consumer value by offering a new visual look as well as added convenience and usability.

Zeller worked closely with Unilever to develop a shaped, one piece flip top hinge closure. The challenging asymmetric design required a tapered lid and body with an oval shape contour.  But the challenges didn't end with the closure’s unique visual appeal. The design also required a self-draining system on the top body of the cap to drain residual water residue. The design specification from the customer also required the closure to be impact resistant and have a easy twist-off operation for opening the cap.

"Unilever had a number of requirements that sought to address shelf appeal and consumer convenience," says Aaron Goh, Zeller Plastik Shanghai. "These are all essential elements for the development of brands in the growing Chinese consumer market."

Zeller created 200ml & 400ml versions of the Zelsnap hinge closure for Lux Shampoo and Conditioner.  The closures are manufactured in white at the Zeller Plastik plant in Shanghai.  The Lux re-launch in China met with a very positive consumer response and increased sales.
