Global Closure Systems' Norwich-plant celebrates 50th anniversary

Local Member of Parliament, Chloe Smith, was there to mark the significant achievement.

August 12, 2013 – Originally established as UG Key Plastics in 1963, UCP has been part of Global Closure Systems since it was formed in 2005 by leading private equity company, PAI Partners. UCP has grown into a premier manufacturer of child resistant, dispensing and tamper-evident plastic caps producing more than four billion injection moulded components each year. UCP supplies well-known global companies such as Heinz, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Reckitt Benckiser, Unilever and UK contract packers to the major retailers.

Managing Director, Louis Meyerowitz, who started work with the company 40 years ago, observed: “What makes UCP so successful is our people. Our employees are dedicated to developing leading-edge innovations, manufacturing high quality products and providing unparalleled service to our customers.”  He thanked employees past and present for their hard work, their loyalty and their contribution to the success of the company over the last 50 years.

Chloe Smith commented: "As a local Member of Parliament I make it my business to meet local businesses. I very much enjoyed visiting such a successful local company and celebrating their major milestone with them.” She added: "I am very passionate about supporting businesses in Norwich and through the 'Norwich For Jobs' campaign, which I founded and launched in January of this year, I am keenly listening to the needs of both young unemployed people and businesses alike."
