GCS UK Apprentices are riding high
October 20, 2015
Global Closure Systems is proud to announce that Shane Jones, apprentice at UCP Norwich, one of GCS’ factories in the UK, wins the prestigious Plastics Industry Award for the Apprentice of the Year.
Actor and comedian Alan Davies presented the award to Shane Jones in front of an audience of over 700 industry professionals at the London Hilton on Park Lane on October 9.
It was a hotly contested category as Ferromatik, Summit Systems, Lindal Group, Nifco and Ryetools were competing. Shane did exceptionally well to win the Award.
The judges advised, “the standard and professionalism of these young people was such that we had an extremely tough job when it came to deciding who won, but there has to be a winner, and we noted that he [Shane] stood out as a result of his enthusiasm within the business and his commitment to strive to be the best”.
Jonathan Edwards, Training Manager for UCP Norwich, praises “it’s another fantastic achievement following Shane's success as part of the winning team at Cranfield” – GCS won the UK National Apprenticeship Competition in May 2015. “We cannot be more proud as it is the second year in a row that a UCP apprentice has scooped the award. It's been quite a year for our apprentices and for Shane in particular.”
Now in their 15th year, the Plastics Industry Awards highlight and recognise the best that the innovative UK plastics industry has to offer, with 15 categories covering materials usage, product design, manufacturing, training and environmental performance.Contact GCS Sales
